i've added a new photography section to the shop, and that means new items! right now you can find a handful of 5x7 landscape prints that i had made up. all of these photographs were taken on my travels through british columbia and alberta. canada is so beautiful, you guys! i'm really glad that i've had the opportunity to explore some of these gorgeous areas. i hope everyone gets a chance to get out of the city every once in a while and take in some of what mother nature has to offer! and if you don't, maybe you should buy a print and see what you're missing! ;)

recycle

lucky for me, these styles are timeless! if you've followed me for a while, you know that i used to make... er, um, that is to say, threaten to make these recycled and eco friendly up-cycled cardigans. everything is sourced second hand; from the sweaters to the wool fabrics to the buttons, and sometimes even the yarns that i use to embellish them. it's very important to me to create something that is sustainable, fashionable and interesting out of something that was discarded for whatever reason. it's like giving something a second chance at life! a better life! i take the unwanted in, and bathe them, and clean up any pilling that they may have accumulated in their past and give them a fresh start, and a new style. makeover!

i hope you like what you see, i've listed these two sweaters in the shop today and i've got another two on the sewing table as we speak!

life has been so busy lately, but i really am enjoying getting back into the old etsy scene again. you know, the other day i read through a bunch of old etsy feedback from sales and it made me feel really good! i had the best customers! so sweet and kind. i think that's going to be my new therapy whenever i'm feeling down: read etsy feedback = feel better instantly!

thank you everyone! from the bottom of my heart.

sense and sensibility

round one of new etsy updates is done! a handful of beautiful and sensible vintage shoes pulled from my own personal collection has arrived. all of the shoes are in mint or near mint condition! if you are a size 6 or size 7, i suggest you get yourself over to the shop post haste! i've added a new coupon code for you as well. take 20% OFF when you enter APPLES at the checkout!

enjoy!

eternity

the etsy shop is back from the dead! i suppose i should say that it is re-animated. this is definitely not a miracle situation... yet! i've reactivated some of my old listings in an attempt to get the ball rolling on this whole thing. i think that my motivation has changed a bit in the last couple of years and i really want to explore some new ideas. so, as they say; out with the old and in with the new!

since everyone's been so patiently waiting for this promised re-launch, and this is kind of a "soft opening" (that phrase always puts a lump in my throat- it sounds disgusting- but it's really quite innocent) with a promise of better things to come, i'm offering 25% 0FF with coupon code ETERNITY to be applied at checkout. get it? eternity! as in, "i've kept you waiting for an eternity."

if there's anything you were waiting to purchase when i finally reopened the store again, now's the perfect time to snatch it up! i will be retiring most of these styles in the future.

future plans

these lampshades just scream gene kelly to me

i want this set up exactly. two above the table, please.

cute chairs.

cute rugs.

yesterday dawn of LookWhatICanDo posted some photos of a family trip to IKEA on her instagram and it really got me craving a trip out there, but i have to stay away lest i be tempted. i am moving across the country this summer. but, i mean, yellow and mint green bookcases with glass doors? sign me up! (those bookcases are not on the IKEA website, by the way - so disappointing) but i came across the preview for the new PS collection online, and it is really making my inner kindergarten teacher happy!

lately i've been really into the sixties again, specifically the shiny colourful stuff that looks victorian but is too garish to be antique. i blame late nights with stanley kubrick films. i suppose it's the next logical step after all this dark and gloomy victorian-grandma-heritage stuff that i've grown so fond of. i think it's what i always aspire to in the back of my mind, but it never quite turns out looking quite mod enough.

also, dawn has just updated her etsy shop with a whole new batch of jackrabbit-love-creatures just in time for easter. her rabbits are kind of a cross between a pillow and a soft sculpture, and are all amazing! she uses vintage fabrics so if you see one you like, you should not hesitate to purchase! her work is so worth it!

landscaping

zander olsen .  cadair, oak 2010

egon schiele .  autumn sun 1912

zander olsen .  untitled (cader) 2008

egon schiele .  four trees 1917

zander olsen .  beeches 2004

gustav klimt .  farmhouse with birch trees 1903

zander olsen .  jhutti 2004

gustav klimt .  beech grove 1902

recently i came across the installation and photographic work of zander olsen. i'm not sure as to which internet rabbit hole i ventured down, but the important thing is knowing that this guy is out there, wrapping trees in fabric and aligning it with the horizon.

as with everything in life, i feel the need to conjure the ghosts of art history past. as we are all aware, my most favourite time in all of history is the arts and crafts era; so i've thrown in some klimt and schiele for you to admire. these guys are most known for their figurative work, but they did some pretty amazing landscapes as well.

whiteapple

alright, kiddies! i'm back with a little teaser for my etsy re-launch! i'm hoping to have everything up and running really, really soon! AND i'll be having a little sale to celebrate!

in the two years since i got busy with other things and gave up my entrepreneurial dreams, i've forgotten how much work it is to actually own an etsy shop. i'm working full time right now (and extra christmas hours to boot) and for some reason i decided it best to add another project into my life! it just felt like the right time to me. in every spare moment i have i am either thinking about the shop or actually working on photos, and editing, and describing, and preparing listings! i want to get a big batch ready for the launch and then i will be adding things regularly from then on out! i am a woman obsessed! i am exhausted! but i am certain that it will all be worth the wait.

this time around, in addition to vintage clothing and handmade jewelry, accessories and clothing, i plan on offering some of my artwork on a regular basis as well as photos and possibly art prints [(if i can figure out those logistics!) any tips would be highly appreciated!] so keep an eye out for updates here or in the shop or if you have twitter, you can find me here too!

into the trees

we're saying goodbye to the spectacular forests of british columbia.

we've decided that moving straight into winter in ontario would be just too painful and scary, so we're now aiming for autumn to ease ourselves into the cold. it's going to be beautiful! the leaves will be all of the fiery shades of red and orange against the crisp blue sky.
i can't wait to experience seasons again!

out west there are essentially two seasons: "rain" and "not rain". so far, this year, there hasn't been much of the latter.
bummer-summer.
boo hoo hoo.

moving on up

okay. last whinging about the ghost of apartments past, i swear! i think that in order to move on, i have to let go of the past! now, off to finally unpack the last few boxes and start arranging the new place!
